January - Tour de Beautiful Central Hawke's Bay (CHB): A fun cycle ride with a hill or two and plenty of flats. The tour takes you through the heart of picturesque Central Hawke's Bay. We can cater for groups of cyclists and a car shed is available to house bikes overnight.
February - Waipawa Veterans Tennis Tournament held annually. Three-day event of great tennis and team spirit! You need to book your accommodation very early for this event! Hawke's Bay Rugby Sevens Tournament held annually.
March - Sea, Sky & Bush Walk held annually. A popular 3-day guided walk across farmland, the coastline, riverlands and natural bush.
Also held in March annually is the National Aerobatics Championships where a week of competition is held to determine the winner!
June - Check out the CHB Municipal Theatre action with F.WA.R.K. at the theatre just out the back gate.
September - The festival held at Pukeora Estate annually. An arts festival (CHB The Festival) a must when visiting Central Hawke's Bay. View the many stalls, enjoy lunch and make a few purchases! New Zealand's first Lamb Festival in association with Silver Fern Farms. The streets will be teeming with activity for the Running of the Lambs and the street party on September 17. Chilli Lamb Cook Off, and a fun night out for the Mutton Dressed as Lamb Ball on September 10.
October - Check the dates for the Arran Station Horse sports.
November - Central Hawke's Bay A & P Show held annually. Agricultural and pastoral displays, horse events and a variety of stalls. A great day out!
December - Waipukurau's Christmas Jockey Club meeting held annually. Family picnics and popular business outing for Christmas functions. Or just relax and enjoy the country life! Check the dates over New Year for the beach polo at Porongahau.
These are just a few of the events that take place around Central Hawke's Bay. There a several cross stitcher exhibitions, country and music gatherings, art exhibitions, marathons and duathlons, and fairs held throughout the year. The Cold Duck Rally is held in May and bikers can enjoy live bands and on-site catering. Motorcross is also very strong in Central Hawke's Bay with meetings and competition being held regularly.
The latest regular attraction to CHB is Ranui Farm Park. If you are into mountain bikes, this is the place for you with monthly competitions and races.
